Warringah Council has called on the State Government to direct the $59million originally earmarked for the Spit Bridge to upgrading Warringah Road and key intersections.

“Warringah faces significant transport and traffic congestion, as any resident can attest, with our major roads at capacity during peak periods,” said Warringah Council Administrator Dick Persson.

“The recent withdrawal of funding for the Spit Bridge widening project presents the NSW Government with an opportunity to undertake other works that will enhance the travel times for residents and improve the economic viability for local business.

On the eve of National Volunteer Week Warringah Council has announced a funding boost for local volunteers and organisations in next year’s budget.

“See the Change….Volunteering is the theme for this year’s National Volunteer Week and I believe more can be done to acknowledge the real change that is made in the community through the enormous contribution of individuals and groups,” said Warringah Council’s Administrator Dick Persson.

“Warringah’s volunteers come from all walks of life and volunteer in areas as diverse as bush regeneration, community safety, coastal management, cultural events, bushfire protection, surf life saving, sporting clubs and library services.

Warringah Council’s road safety program will be running a free workshop for family members who are teaching their children to drive. The workshop will be on Tuesday 15 May from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Titan Ford showroom in Brookvale.
