Road Safety Day in Warringah
Council News Comments OffA free child seat check and road safety information day is being organised by Warringah Council on Saturday 19 April. “Not only are we providing free inspections of capsules and child seats, we have the Kids and Traffic interactive display for drivers to test their rear vision and reversing,” said Warringah Council Administrator Dick Persson.
“Studies have tested the rear vision of a number of popular cars and results show there is a large blind zone behind most cars.
“Many people are not aware of the blind spots when reversing their car and this display with its child size cut outs demonstrates the difficulty in seeing young children at the back of a vehicle.
“The popular child restraint check only takes ten minutes but can save a child’s life. Previous child restraint checking days revealed that more than 80% of baby capsules, car and booster seats are incorrectly installed,” Mr Persson said.
RTA authorised restraint fitters from Beachwheels Automotive, Body and Soul Automotive repairs and McDougall Motors will provide free checks on child restraints.
There is also a Safe’n’Sound Premier Child restraint to be won, a sausage sizzle, Council’s new Eco Van with giveaways and face painting to amuse the kids.
